The policy of not allowing photography in the stores is way outdated. You guys are a CAMERA store. You have expensive displays that allow me to try your cameras in the store, and you sell me phones with camera's in them.
If I want to blog about your store, take a picture of a product to add to my wish list, or post a picture from my shopping to trip to facebook I should be allowed. Some of your products even have 3D barcodes that TELL ME to take pictures of them, and in at least one store you have 3D barcodes on your own signs.
How can you have a no photography rule?

Security reasons. But I do agree with everything you said.

Yea, I agree. ".Chris is saying for security reasons", but I disagree with him on that one. If I want to talk about Best Buy on F~book or my blog, I have the right to do so under "freedom of speech" and "freedoom of the press". Why is BBY trying to ban something that's almost protected by our Constitutional rights?

I work in a store that doesn't allow photography and the primary reason is the privacy of the customer and the staff. Rather than provide a checklist of what a customer can photograph, it's safer to say no photography period.

I don't see this as a violation of your consitutional rights. If you want something to post on your blogs for your wish list item- then there are plenty of pictures available on different websites. I agree with the decisions of stores to not allow photography in store. If I was shopping in a store- and somehow managed to be in that picture - my privacy rights would be violated by you posting it on your blog without a photo release form. And your freedom of speech is definitely not being violated- as they are not stoping you from talking about best buy and the gadgets they sell in your blog.

The website of "People of Wal-Mart" was almost shut down by the courts due to the privacy concerns.

I work for BBY and agree with @justjason. This issue was brought up in one of our meetings. Its a security issue. If you want a picture of the item, then BBY.com has pictures you can take from there.
Flag as inappropriateIf you really want a picture of the store, ask to speak to a manager, and they will be glad to help you take a picture in the store properly that doesnt violate any security / privacy issues.
